Mark Davis has just had the best season of his career, climbing into the top 32 of the world rankings for the first time and reaching the last 16 at the Crucible. So it's time to find out more about Sussex's finest...
What’s your earliest memory?
Sitting with my mum and dad watching TV, having a chat with them, though I can’t remember what age I was.
Who do you admire most?
My mum. She’s worked hard all her life looking after six kids, worked hard when we were younger and she’s still working now.
What are you afraid of?
Anything happening to my family or kids.
If a film was made of your life, who would you want to play the lead role?
Al Pacino, my favourite actor.
What’s your guiltiest, pleasure?
Chocolates, crisps - any junk food.
What was the most trouble you got into at school?
I skived on a sponsored walk. We were supposed to go round the block a few times and get the book signed, but I only did a couple of laps. I got the cane for that.
What is the most expensive thing you have bought, apart from a house or car?
Probably the wedding rings. I got married earlier this month.
Is there a piece of music which inspires you?
I like a lot of music. I do like the Rocky theme – Eye of the Tiger. That inspires me, Raymond Barneveld uses it at the darts. I don’t listen to a lot of music before I go out and play, but because of the film that would have to be the piece.
If you had a time machine and could go anywhere, forward or back, where would you go?
To the Wild West. I like Westerns so to go back and see what it was really like would be brilliant. Perhaps not for long though, as life was probably pretty hard back then.
If you could come back in your next life as an animal, what would it be?
A dog, because they’re loved as part of the family. We’ve always had them.
